School Holiday Activities In Melbourne
With the school holidays fast approaching, parents are often left with the job of finding activities to keep the kids entertained. But we’ve done the work for you! Here are some of our best school holiday picks to keep the kids busy this winter break.
To get the kids thinking, making and learning, try one of the many workshops being held these school holidays. Origami workshops in the Botanical Gardens will teach young minds how to transform paper into folded works of art, Itsy Bitsy Chef will offer cooking classes for the little ones, and lessons in all things magical will be held by the Magic School of Confidence.
Movies at the Library
While the movies are a tried and tested school holiday pleaser, ticket prices can eat into holiday budgets. Thankfully, a number of Melbourne libraries will host free movie events for kids this winter. See Toy Story 2 at Southbank Library on the 10th of July, Beauty and the Beast the 11th of July, or Coco at East Melbourne library on the 12th of July.
If it’s live action you’re after, the University of Melbourne will be presenting the hit film Madagascar in musical these school holidays, from the 11th-14th of July. The Young Australian Broadway Chorus will bring New York’s Central Park Zoo animals to life as they navigate their way through a journey in the wild!
For an entertaining exhibition, visit Federation Square’s ‘Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N.’, an interactive, immersive and educational look into the world of Marvel. The custom-built venue will allow visitors to become training agents and learn about the science, technology and history behind the Avengers gang.
Kids need not be bored these school holidays, and adults need not be worried about the task of entertaining. Leave it to the City of Melbourne
